Raising Exotic Birds for the Pet Trade and Conservation in Captivity
My name is Pedro Gonzalez, and I’m a 24-year-old bird breeder living in the SF Bay Area, California. What started as a hobby in 2018 has grown into a full-time passion. Recognizing my potential to make a meaningful impact in aviculture, I made one of the best decisions of my life by quitting my 9 to 5 job as a fast food supervisor in November 2024 to dedicate myself entirely to my animals and their care.
While parrots are the main focus, I also raise a variety of other bird species including finches, quails, turacos, and other unique birds. But my love for animals extends way beyond birds!
I also raise dart frogs, iguanas, tarantulas, and other exotic animals. Working with such a fascinating variety of species brings me immense joy and fulfillment. So, what's my goal in life? Like everyone says, "When I grow up," I dream of owning a private exotic breeding facility focused on conservation. I want to work alongside other facilities to help maintain healthy, thriving populations in captivity, all while doing my part to protect these incredible species in the wild.
